OUR SMALL AND NIMBLE GROUP:The Bank-On-Rain team.
He has worked in many remote locations including Rwanda, and PNG.
There’s more about Mike on his company website here. Mike combines vision with expertise and practical application.
What exactly were we doing that Saturday several years ago that brought our focus of grassroots rain collection and storage to a global head? Mike and I were mentoring Ken Blair and his new company, Rainbank, a northwest US rain harvesting and storage systems company. Perfect; here we have a very practical implementer on our small & nimble team, who does it everyday, though maybe not quite at the grassroots level… but he understands the problems and solutions; after all, clean drinking water is clean drinking water! You can read about Ken and what he does, on his website at Rainbank.info. The consulting arm of Rainbank is taking care of global customers now (below Ken working on a filtration system)
So how did Anitra find us? And yes Anitra Accetturo, our fourth director, found us, and what is so cool is that she is excited and totally in tune with our mission and fulfilling Bank-On-Rain’s educational needs; a perfect compliment to those focused on the practical application. Anitra currently is a Water Conservation Specialist for the City of Bellingham, WA, where she has developed and given “small scale” rain collection and storage workshops to the community for the past 8 years. She is passionate about educating people about rainwater collection and empowering them to utilize water sustainably. She seeks to combine her passions of community outreach, global travel, and rainwater collection to assist in providing safe drinking water where it is needed most. You can read more about her here, and stay tuned, as Anitra will be writing our blog posts more often than not, and is implementing the Bank-On-Rain presence on facebook. (Below Anitra giving a workshop ~ it's all about rain collection)
Why do we want to stay small and nimble? We believe we can move faster and have a higher number of effective projects going on, if we act as a “consultancy” to other not-for-profit organizations and endeavors. As organizations grow they often lose agility, sometimes because of overloaded administration responsibilities (cant be helped); but by partnering with such organizations we can help move projects along faster and more effectively. Our acceptance into the peer water group (PWX) was a very exciting partnering, and we look forward to doing projects with other organization members in the group and other global organizations with the same or similar missions.
Please let us know what organizations you think would benefit from Bank-On-Rain expertise?
